POS Protocol Conversion

Government Agency - POS Protocol Conversion Project

Using POS protocol conversion packet brokers, multi-SDH-rate traffic is ingested at wire speed and converted to Ethernet for balanced output to backend audit systems, reducing solution implementation cost.

Case 5 topology

Challenges

The backend servers of the agency’s network audit system cannot support POS, so traffic cannot be ingested directly. Their POS rates would require an expensive standard SDH device for conversion, plus an additional Ethernet packet broker for balanced output to backend audit systems.

Solution

By deploying POS protocol conversion packet brokers at the front end, multi-SDH-rate traffic ingress and balanced traffic distribution are both achieved.

  • Supports wire-speed ingress for 155M/622M/2.5G/10G POS traffic
  • After Ethernet conversion, traffic is evenly distributed to multiple analytics servers based on customer needs
  • POS and Ethernet port protocols can switch flexibly to fit different scenarios
